This article addresses the characterization of the Barreira dos Campos waterfront in Santana do Araguaia-PA, as part of a sustainable urban redevelopment study. The study emphasizes the urgency of rethinking urban space, considering long-term, medium-term, and short-term impacts. It adopts a sustainable approach to reverse environmental degradation, create green areas, and implement urban infrastructure. The methodology includes assessing current conditions, community participation, and a literature review. Sustainable urban planning is highlighted, focusing on the social, environmental, and economic tripod. Legislation, such as the Federal Constitution, City Statute, and National Environmental Policy, is mentioned as guiding principles. National and international case studies are presented as references. The analysis of public consultation results underscores dissatisfaction with infrastructure, accessibility, and recreational spaces, pointing to the need for interventions in the urban redevelopment of the waterfront.
