COLMEIA DESIGN: ESPECULANDO FUTUROS SUSTENTÁVEIS NA MODA

Abstract

This article is an expanded version of the paper "Hive Design: a tool to assist designers in speculating on the development of product-service systems" presented at the 2023 Sustainable Design Symposium. It presents the Hive Design tool, a set of speculative cards based on critical design approaches, developed to assist designers in critically reflecting on sustainability in fashion, providing moments of projective openness for critical reflection, discussion, and speculation on fashion-related issues. The methodology involved a literature review on critical design approaches and how they can act to promote sustainability, as well as on the concept of product-service systems. Additionally, the tool was also put into practice through a workshop, where it was possible to observe how it can assist in speculating on futures and in the development of product-service systems aiming at sustainable solutions.
