This paper presents the planning process, development and results obtained from the practical experience of the workshop “Waste, Recycling and Sustainability in Urban Spaces”, held during the VI Urbicentros International Symposium in João Pessoa/PB. The objective is to show the importance of sustainability in urban spaces through the reuse of recyclable materials such as PET bottles, and to highlight the possibility of using these materials to create urban furniture. The working group researched the activities to be developed, collected and prepared the material to be used, previously built the selected furniture, and produced the teaching material. During the workshop, after a theoretical presentation and guidance on the practical aspects, the participants built the furniture and placed it in the public space. At the end, there was a gathering and exchange of experiences, where the participants reported what they had learned about the innovative theme, which can be applied in their own communities, promoting a more conscious and responsible future.
