Abstract

The scope of the article was to carry out an analysis using the flood and ebb cycles of the Rio Negro for victims of socio-environmental disasters in the city of Manaus-AM. The objective was to identify elements and characteristics of the natural phenomena that caused disaster situations due to the flood. The study analyzed cases that exceeded the 28m level, leaving the city partially underwater. As a result, rainfall and elevation curves were obtained in order to analyze the temporal relationship and environmental impact. The choice of the region for the study sought to map the floods, with an emphasis on the neighborhoods bathed by the Igarapé do Mindu and the Rio Negro. In this way, the work was able to analyze the behavior of these water bodies over the last few years.
