Conceituando o desvio positivo no Programa Etnomatemática como a valorização de práticas matemáticas locais

Resumo

O reconhecimento da relação entre a cultura e a matemática pode ser interpretado como uma reação ao imperialismo cultural que impôs a sua versão do conhecimento matemático às comunidades colonizadas ao redor do mundo com a expansão das grandes navegações a partir do século XV. A reação a esse imperialismo cultural também pode estar relacionado com o desenvolvimento do conceito de desvio positivo que se relaciona com a flexibilidade das regras, normas e regulamentos para que possa alcançar o bem-estar dos membros de grupos culturais distintos. A amplitude dos conceitos de desvio positivo engloba as soluções matemáticas inovadoras desenvolvidas localmente e que podem ser utilizadas na ação pedagógica da etnomatemática, pois tem como objetivo confrontar a crença e o reconhecimento que persiste na sociedade contemporânea de que a matemática é um conhecimento culturalmente neutro. Assim, o principal objetivo deste artigo teórico é discutir o conceito de desvio positivo para a educação matemática por meio da exploração e da identificação da essência dessa terminologia no contexto da prática educacional relacionada com a ação pedagógica da etnomatematica e de sua conexão com a modelagem por meio da etnomodelagem.
