The Accessibility of the Historical Site of Vassouras

Abstract

This research aims to promote accessibility for people with reduced mobility and disabilities in the Historic Site of Vassouras/RJ, so that they can learn about the history and monuments there and experience them. When analyzing the site, it appears that the Site is not in compliance with the regulations relevant to the case, NBR 9050:2020 and the Technical Notebook on Urban Mobility and Accessibility in Historic Centers of the National Historical and Artistic Heritage Institute. Furthermore, there is a lack of proposals and resources to foresee and promote accessibility to include everyone. In general terms, it is observed that there are conflicts of interest between the body that institutes the protection of heritage in the Historic Site and different layers of the population who, in part, report an interest in the accessibility of buildings and, in part, ignore this very important issue.
